Welcome
Hello! My name is Marcela Gandolfo-Cocher and I am the ELL -English Language Learners- teacher at Bruce Guadalupe School. This is my 10
th
year teaching at Bruce Guadalupe and I hope that you enjoy it here as much I do!
I was born and raised in Argentina where I attended the University of Buenos Aires and received my Bachelors degree in Geography. After working with students at the elementary school through high school level for fifteen years in Patagonia –Argentina- my family and I moved to Wisconsin in 2002 and I went back to school. First, I attended Mt. Mary College and I obtained my Spanish license. Then, in September of 2006 I decided to further my education and I enrolled at Lakeland College where I acquired my ELL license.
As an ELL teacher I support regular teachers in increasing the proficiency level of second language learners in the skill areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing, through support classes that students receive regularly in small groups. This program improves outcomes for ELL in mainstream classrooms and fosters students’ academic achievement, social growth, self-confidence and self-worth, while developing language proficiency. Every day I am appreciative of the opportunity to be here, teaching in this school and working with these wonderful students. Part of my commitment as an educator is to inspire all my students to become lifelong learners.
NEWS
I have good news for our families. As you know our school continues to grow and we were fortunate to add an assistant to the ELL program. Her name is Mrs. Matus. She has been working as a teacher’s aid for the 5
th
grade teachers, and she did some assistant work in the middle school. She is very excited about working with me and our students in the ELL program.
ELL students’ learning should build on the educational and personal experiences they bring to school.
